Commotion In the Ocean!!! - Keeping our waterways clean.

What an action packed day we have had today.
This morning Miss Drake showed us some You Tube clips of beautiful marine animals in their natural habitats. We even saw some animals we didn't know existed.
Then we talked about what would happen if people started to dump waste/petrol/oil and recycling into waterways.
We looked at some pictures and this made us feel very sad.
This inspired us to do some writing. "We need to tell the world to stop dumping rubbish," said Awad.
Room 15 does not want their waterways and oceans to look like this. Do you?
Darren's fantastic independent writing. Look at what he can do all by himself.
After morning tea Mr Robertson took us on a trip to see the Okeover Stream, just over the fence from Ilam School. He taught us about the things in the river and how people can keep it safe - but OH NO! we spotted a plastic bag in the stream!
We learnt that there are different breeds of sport fish, eels and even WATER RATS living in/by the stream plus loads of other organisms. The stream leads into the Avon River, then out into the Ocean so we need to make sure we don't pollute it or we could make animals very sick, or even die.

  1. Look at all the wonderful ways you have used Pic Collage! What a great trip to the stream you had with Mr. Robertson and what an exciting way to learn about our waterways. We will have to look after them won't we? From Mrs Dudley
