The Magical Mimosa Plant

On Tuesday a mysterious box turned up in Room 13.

It was from Walty. We had to wait patiently until 10:15 so we decided to write about what we thought could be in the box.

Finally it was time to open the box. Inside was a tiny Mimosa plant. Room 13 got such a surprise.

We used some adjectives to describe what the plant looked like.

Oh no Miss Drake accidentally touched the leaves! Guess what happened next... the branches dropped and the leaves closed up.

We explored some ideas about why we thought the leaves closed when we touched them.

Why do you think the plant closes it's leaves?

Check out this clip to watch the Mimosa plant in action.

  1. What an amazing thing for the children to experience. I did not touch or feel my first Mimosa until last year with the garden club. Plants are amazing and so are you guys!
